(01) — The brief
The problem on the table.
A leading professor of Islamic Studies had a substantial body of work — books, peer-reviewed papers, talks and projects — scattered across a generic faculty profile, publisher pages and PDFs. None of it added up to a single, authoritative home that matched the standing of the research.
Institutional pages also come with institutional limits: rigid templates, no control over presentation, and a profile that disappears the moment you change university.
(02) — The approach
How I solved it.
The brief was clarity with gravitas — a site that reads like a well-set book, not a CV dump. I led with editorial typography and generous whitespace so the writing, not the chrome, carries the page.
I structured the research into a calm, scannable architecture: a clear biography, a properly organised publications list, and space for talks and current projects. The build is a fast static Next.js site so pages open instantly and rank for the professor's own name — an asset he owns and keeps across institutions.
(03) — What I built
The pieces that matter.
Authoritative biography
A considered, editorial profile that frames the research and standing at a glance.
Structured publications
Books, articles and chapters organised so visitors and search engines can actually parse them.
Owned & portable
Ranks for his name and stays with him — independent of any single university profile.
Fast & accessible
A static build that loads instantly, works on every device and meets accessibility standards.
(04) — The outcome
A single authoritative home for the research — calm, credible and quick — that the professor owns outright and can carry between institutions. It set the editorial template Studio Hadi now brings to other academics.
